Our History

Footmed Orthotics was started in 1997 by Podiatrist, Ben Lamb.

Initially, like so many labs, it was formed as a small time operation based in his garage to service the orthotic needs of his own clinic.

Over time however, it was noted that Ben had a unique skill set that resulted in the manufacture of highly functional orthotics, born not only from skill in craftsmanship but also the culmination of knowledge that only a Podiatrist could provide.

As such, more and more of his colleagues requested that he manufacture their prescription orthoses. And Footmed Orthotics Laboratory was born.

It is this combination of skilled craftsmanship; and practical, insightful podiatric knowledge that sets the foundation of Footmed today, allowing us to manufacture devices of unparalleled form and function.

Over this time we have grown, training skilled orthotic artisans and Podiatrists with unique practical in-clinic knowledge and experience.

Ben still oversees every orthotic prescription that comes into the lab whilst also running a busy sports and general care, multidisciplinary practice. He will always contact you if you wish to discuss your client needs or to optimize your prescription outcomes. Many claim they love being able to talk one-to-one with a Podiatrist who understands their needs.
